What is Ledger® and why it matters
Ledger® is Ledger's official getting-started hub for its hardware wallets and companion software. A hardware wallet stores your private keys offline in a secure element — protecting crypto from online attacks while allowing you to interact with the wider Web3 ecosystem via Ledger Live.

- Confirm your recovery phrase on paper and store it offline — never share it with anyone.
- Download Ledger Live (Desktop or Mobile) and connect your device to add accounts and manage assets.

Ledger Live is the all-in-one app to add accounts, send/receive crypto, buy/swap tokens, stake and monitor your portfolio — available as Desktop and Mobile apps. Use the official download page or your platform's app store to avoid fake software.

Official downloads and verified installers live on Ledger's site. For mobile, find Ledger Live on the App Store and Google Play. For desktop, use the Ledger Live download center and verify installer signatures when required.
Security best practices
- Only download Ledger Live from the official site or app stores.
- Never enter your 24-word recovery phrase into any app, website or form — Ledger will never ask for it.
- Verify installer checksums when provided and keep device firmware up to date.
